In partnership with Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality and Urban.koop, we have started a project titled Çekirdek Eskişehir. In this project, which will run between November 2023 and November 2024, we are working to transform an idle municipality - owned space in Eskişehir into a multifunctional, accessible and interdisciplinary culture and arts space. Çekirdek Eskişehir is supported by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) within the scope of the Ortaklaşa: Culture, Art and Dialogue Program.
In the Çekirdek Eskişehir project, which is carried out through a participatory process, we aim to reveal the three components of the project space (space design, culture and arts program and governance plan), extending over an area of 650 m2 in Kentpark, together with stakeholders. In this process, through various stakeholder meetings, workshops and interviews with experts, we aim to collect inputs to guide the transformation process and create a Reuse Project Design on how the space will be transformed. We hope that the project will be a pilot initiative to revitalize an unused space, promoting cultural inclusion and enriching the arts and culture habitat in the region and guiding cultural professionals working to make arts and culture spaces accessible to disadvantaged groups.
The project aims not only to impact the physical space, but also to create a social impact by involving key stakeholders such as local and national arts and culture organizations, artists, disability rights activists and groups, and potential users in the transformation process; to create a replicable and replicable model for municipalities and relevant institutions in other cities; and to contribute to the overall vibrancy and diversity of the cultural scene in Eskişehir by creating a dynamic environment where various art forms and cultural events can thrive.
