COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN ZAGREB AND ESKİŞEHİR PROJECT
As Puruli Culture & Arts, we implemented a project titled Community Engagement in Zagreb & Eskişehir in partnership with Pogon, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality and Zagreb City. The project, which was carried out between October 2024 and March 2025, aimed to increase the participation of young people and people with disabilities in culture and arts venues - and events in Zagreb and Eskişehir.
The project aimed to create more inclusive cultural spaces in both cities through online sessions led by experts, workshops organized by institutions and sharing good practices. At the same time, we strengthened the cooperation between Puruli and Pogon through experience sharing and collaborative efforts.
As Puruli Culture and Arts, we organized a workshop for culture and arts professionals in Zagreb, offering practical tools to make venues, events and communication channels more accessible and inclusive. In this workshop, we shared concrete tools such as the Accessible Venue Certificate Checklist, as well as good practices such as Audio Description, Closed Caption, Autism Friendly Screenings and the use of accessible language. In Eskişehir, our project partner Pogon organized a workshop on increasing youth participation and creating a successful governance model in culture and arts venues. Within the scope of the project, we contributed to the dissemination of successful governance models by translating Pogon's Code of Good Practice in Setting Up Civil-Public Partnerships and Their Functioning, which has a hybrid governance model carried out in civil-public partnership, into English and Turkish.
This project is supported by the THE:PLACE program, managed by ALDA and MAD, with the support of Stiftung Mercator.
